Virtual Community Artboard

As a placemaking organization, we are constantly looking for new ways to bring communities together. In these lonely days of self-isolation resulting from the COVID-19 outbreaks, we asked ourselves: How can we still find a way to bring the community together? That’s what lead us to start exploring the intersection between art, technology and community.

This virtual artboard is a way to connect with others in a time of darkness. Although many of us are stuck at home, we wanted to find a way to bring art, colour and a sense of community to all of you at home. Art & colour has the power to change how you feel, so we wanted to create a space for the public to share some positivity.

We want to see the art grow & change, and we’re sure that you’d like to see that too! While the artboard is active, we will be intermittently recording the screen, so that we can share the progression online with all of you! We want you to be able to see the darkness turn to colour and the screen as it fills up with fun, happiness and connectivity!

We have a few simple rules and points of consideration for participation:

  • Please do not post any profanity, or anything inappropriate
  • Anything drawn on the community artboard is public and may be turned into a publically circulated video at a later time.
  • Please keep your messages and drawings positive — we want this to be a happy space
  • Please be respectful of other people’s work
  • And finally, have fun creating art with the global community!

PBJ Design acknowledges that our projects take place in Mi’Kma’ki, on the traditional unceded lands of the Mi’kmaq People. Placemaking is nothing without the land and communities we work in, and we acknowledge that this place is Mi’Kma’ki. For more information, click here.
