The Glowing Hallway is an interactive light installation in Peace and Friendship Park that brightens the city while giving the public an opportunity to interact with their city– completely contactless. As the public walks through the series of archways, motion sensor lights turn on, allowing the public to both engage with and illuminate their city. The goal of the project is to allow the public the opportunity to become the art by their ability to control it, and as a result, they will feel more of a connection to the lights display and downtown Halifax.

This project was completed through Downtown Halifax’s Business Commission’s (DHBC) Gritty to Pretty Program, which aims to beautify downtown Halifax. The Glowing Hallway will add additional interactive elements to the Halifax Lights Display, which brightens downtown Halifax throughout the winter months. Check out the full display in Peace and Friendship Park starting on November 12th!

PBJ Design acknowledges that our projects take place in Mi’Kma’ki, on the traditional unceded lands of the Mi’kmaq People. Placemaking is nothing without the land and communities we work in, and we acknowledge that this place is Mi’Kma’ki. For more information, click here.
