PBJ Design and the Town of Kentville opened Webster Street and Center Square for free-drawing chalk art in 2017 and 2018. By the end of the event, the street was full of art, from over 400 pieces of chalk!
Art has a large impact on the community. By organizing an event that brings community members together to support artists and engage them in improving their communities, we see larger results than just the art pieces after completion of the event. Business have earned revenue, people are inclined to promote and return to the area, and they feel more connected in the places that they live in.
Special thanks to the Town of Kentville for their support on this project. Check out the Chalk Art Festival in the Town in future years!
PBJ Design acknowledges that our events take place in Mi’Kma’ki, on the traditional unceded lands of the Mi’kmaq People. Placemaking is nothing without the land and communities we work in, and we acknowledge that this place is Mi’Kma’ki. For more information, click here.
